What’s the latest news?
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the thousands of people who have expressed their support for this project to go ahead. The Lewisham public have given such overwhelmingly positive feedback for the proposals having attended one of our 4 public open days. Officers at the council planning department went so far as to say that public support for this application has been “unprecedented” as literally hundreds of people wrote to the planning department to express their support for our proposed building design and associated uses.
We are pleased to say that the Planning Committee at Lewisham council convinced by the plethora of public benefits proposed by the scheme overwhelmingly granted planning permission and listed building consent at the planning committee meeting.
How long will the restoration and extension work take?
Based on what our various consultants are estimating we believe the work will take around 15 months, but the building should be generally functional within 9 months, with some work to be completed in the remaining time.
Does the building contain Asbestos?
We have had the building closely examined by a specialist company who have investigated and tested the building, and all areas where Asbestos was found the company have assured us and certified that it has safely been removed.
How can I help to support the project?
The ‘Big Build’ is the name of our new building fundraising campaign. Having outgrown our current church building both in terms of seating capacity and ministry space for our community, we have been so blessed to be able to purchase larger property right in the heart of our town centre of Lewisham, South East London.
The property is currently semi-derelict and in need of building and restoration work, in order for it to be renovated to become our new church home, from which we can continue to expand our ministry work.

We are so grateful for the positive written and verbal feedback that our proposed design team and associates still continue to receive from the thousands of members of the public.
Based on your comments we are also aware that many of you, just like us, are eager to see our plans (which in March 2016 were approved by the council planning committee) come to fruition as soon as possible, enabling the rapidly deteriorating building to be brought back into use.
We are now fundraising for an initial £300,000 to begin the works through what we are calling the ‘Big Build’ campaign to transform the semi-derelict building into a landmark building in this part of Lewisham.
